Clare, daughter of Anne and Nicholas Van Durme, has lived in Dansville her
entire life. From an early age she and her nine siblings were instilled with a
strong community service ethic by their parents.
Clare is a parishioner in the Holy Family Catholic community and serves as a
Eucharistic Minister. She delivers the Eucharist to people unable to attend
Mass. Clare is also a member of the Cursillo Community, an organization which
organizes Catholic women’s retreats.
For more than ten years, Clare served as a Dansville Sports Booster Club
Member and as the Club President for 4 years.
The Genesee Valley Rotary Club has benefited from her generosity many fold.
The summer camp has become a family affair.
Clare is also the founder of CANN Community Answers Needs Network. This
organization gained attention this winter with their drives to provide warm
clothing to those in need. The organization continues to build as Clare delivers
on the founding premise of the organization “if we all work together, we can
improve the lives of others.” For instance, if a house were lost to a
catastrophic fire, the group would work to reestablish the home, providing
clothing, household items, appliances, everything the family needs to get a
fresh start.
Clare is also a member of the Red Cross Disaster Action Team as well as
owning her own sewing, alteration and craft business, Round Tuit Designs.
