Our Chapter…
It is a privilege for this chapter to be known as the Clara Barton Chapter #1 in honor of the American Red Cross founder, Clara Barton.
During the later 1800’s, Miss Barton spent several years in the Dansville area, residing here and returning to visit. In honor of her, the
community organized and established the first official local chapter of the American Red Cross. In Miss Barton’s own words,
“ It must never be forgotten that Dansville was the first child of the American Red Cross.” more history...
